Yay birthday!

It's my birthday and the day after Prince's birthday! They go great together. My sister and her husband came over earlier this week for cupcakes and board games, & today Charlie gave me a fabulous CD, "Made in Cuba 2", totally rad, has 2 cds full of songs I don't have yet... and a superhero book and Season 2 of Xena. Out later to Citizen Cake which sounds moderately fancy but not uberfancy.

Earlier in the week I had a nasty scare when my leg collapsed under me, but I'm better now, aside from a tingly/numb/burning foot and a twinge in the low back. Fucking sciatica. So, the best birthday present is being able to walk around!

Blogger has been up and down for 2 days. Do you have any idea how many blogs I have on there that need updating! Holy shit.

Bad moms coffee was extremely raucous today with 10 of us babbling at once. I love it when SuperT, Hamster's mom, goes off on a rant and starts to cuss. Me, I just said something imprudent during a long discussion about labor and the way that you do and don't want other people to behave during it. "You know, really, it's like group sex." *appalled yet fascinated silence*

"F@ir Use and the F@ir Sex" is so sweet, it brought a tear to my eye ... somewhere around page 33, but then again right at the end. "This author has intentionally minimized the quantity and moderated the stridency of her gender-related scholarship for instrumental career reasons and is in no position to criticize any similar choices made by others. " It's so clear!

It establishes some ground in a formal way... and yet it makes me long for a good rant or manifesto by the same author. Because I want the ideas pushed way further instead of being established slowly, formally, tiptoeing... I want to know the further edges of this person's thought on patriarchy and copyright. I'm down with what she's saying, anyway. (Maybe so much that I'm left thinking "Yes, of course... and so then what?")
