Parking saga, part zillion and three
May. 19th, 2008 01:25 pmMy email to the city building inspector head, who called me Friday evening.
My leg sucks so bad today that I am even more glad I started this going last week.
The city guy explained there is the ADA, enforced by the DOJ and that is a whole separate process etc.
And that the California building code is different (and as people have pointed out, came first and is stricter in some ways.) It's my perception that going to the DOJ and filing a complaint would be an escalation on my part and a huge pain in the ass for everyone. I'm not sure if that's true. But I feel unwilling as yet to open up a whole new can of whoop ass and complexities. How much nicer if the city just comes in and does its thing in a quiet way. They understand the situation...

Hello Fereydoun,

Thanks for taking a look at the problem.
Also, thanks for explaining to me about the California Building Code. I found it online and read section 1129B and related sections.
This morning, I had to park next to Main Street and wheel across the lot behind many parked cars. Also, I have no control over whether a person will park next to me. If someone parks next to me on the drivers' side, too close, then I won't be able to get into my car. That's why the 60 inch striped access lanes are important to me.
