Hey peeps! I'll be in Boston staying with owlqueue and M...

Saturday will be at the BlogHer conference at the Burlington Hyatt, teaching a blog workshop (a quick "6 tips to improve your blog" class) and then hanging in the Geek Lab room with Sarah.

The conference is not expensive and will be pretty great - a few hundred blogging women all hanging out talking blog talk - Usually this is a mix of business and personal bloggers. The workshop I'm doing in the early afternoon will be with 3 other bloggers from the Boston area. In our planning session I realized we all 4 have similar levels of knowledge - i.e. have blogged for years on every popular platform and can hack around comfortably in them all. So I'm looking forward to geeking out as well as teaching and schmoozing and partying with people who have AWESOME SHOES and who are surgically attached to their laptops and digital cameras. Beth Kanter will surely get up to some mischief with me but she is also incredibly interesting talking about blogging and non profits... Erin Kotecki Vest aka QueenofSpain, will generate MAYHEM wherever she goes...Also Laurie White... Shireen Mitchell who was a hoot this year and is a geek extraordinaire... Not to mention my co-workers and bosses and such.

THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON BLOGHER

Oh and turn sideways for when we did Jen M.'s first goatse.cx (no images of the notorious and nasty photo; just her reaction)

The DC conference will be Monday so I get to do it all over again! Actually it seems to be in Bethesda, so not quite DC itself. I have a rental car and will be on the loose flying into & out of Baltimore. Sunday afternoon I'm going to the eastern shore to visit my grandma and uncle... Monday the conference. In theory the DC conference will be much more political and stuff! It's going to be fantastic.

Need I mention that a lot of people get jobs from going to BlogHer! Networking! Feminism! etc!

Tuesday morning I'll be looking for somewhere to work before my flight goes out. Must find internet cafe in Baltimore! Help me, Internet!

One thing I'll be looking to talk with people about - I want to connect up with the more techie blogheristas - to plan for the BlogHer 09 conference and what we might do at it. I'd like some talks and workshops about running web servers, for instance - hosting your own stuff, running Apache, kind of sys admin lite for those of us who do that kind of thing instead of always being on hosted services. Also, at BlogHer 08 it was pretty clear there is a big WordPress contingent who are interested not just in writing templates but in messing around with plugins, writing or contributing to plugins. True for Drupal as well.
