voted.... no on A,D, and E and yes on B, C, and F. I read a bunch of the enormous voter guide but... not every word. I couldn't tell what the hell was up with prop A and so voted against it because of who was against it (I think it was nurses and teachers) and who was for it (Chambers of commerce, sheriffs)

So did you vote in CA and if so, how did you vote and why?

vainly wanting to bring my boots. But they're huge and heavy and actually i can't find them

vanity? cleaning the closet to find them? sensibleness? packing light, as i keep vowing I'll learn to do?

My nice crutches woudl also be nice to have, but I might stick with the cane (harder AND easier on the plane)

On the other hand, have 2 rather nice burly companions to carry boots and crutches.

But in practice I know I won't have the stamina to go out on crutches and wander the con, and I can't carry them well while in the chair, so cane it is.

What to do! Boots? Am consoling myself with the thought I am still cute without shiny boots. BUT I LOVE THEM SO.

I am on book 3 of the Liveship trilogy!

And have to mention the really, really, really over the top scene where what's his name cuts off the other guy's leg. OMFG, it was gross. But it was also how I imagined leg cutting off would be. Because really, who hasn't imagined having to amputate a limb in an emergency? (I was ruined for life by the story of that hiker who had a boulder fall on his arm, and was pinned for days until he finally sawed off his crushed and gangrenous arm with his pocketknife.)

Spoilers below! Complicated thoughts! Mostly about the Liveship books and dragons and culture and slavery (and gender) but also mention of the same themes in the Farseer trilogy.
