Renewed!

New optimism! Sun! And a morning nap. I feel a lot better today & full of hope though everything still hurts. zond7 massaged me gently last night which helped me go to sleep peacefullly...

Moomin and I went to the pool but the schedule has switched to Fall, so it was closed for lunch. We ended up at the diner where I am going through my notebook and Doing Things while he reads Rumo (which is AMAZING -- just as good as City of Dreaming Books -- he is wildly excited with each intersection he spots between the books). I am making lists of all the things. Though today's will be "get massage" and "maybe write a blog post".

I have smeared Voltaren and the other cream on all my joints about 4 times since last night and I am sure that's been helping.

The sunny weather is also great.

I ate some dates for breakfast, and just now half a hamburger without the bun and some fruit. So, that's good too.

Off to hazelbroom's to have a massage for real and then will go home & nap again I hope. That ought to help.

I highly recommend her massages by the way! She never hurts me and has beautiful intuition & fabulous knowledge! Her advice is always good and she listens to me so nicely that it is very therapeutic just to be listened to and not feel like i have to apologize for being in unusual amounts of pain (as interaction many doctors/PT/body workers and me ends up being). and she makes me tea. huzzah. If you live in the area and can afford it.... she's the massage queen!

Okay, I'm sure by 6pm I'll be in tears again. Up & down but levelling out.

Regenesis and Cyteen notes

Human society in Cyteen is extremely odd and it's supposed to be, because the people of the worlds and stations far from Earth have sort of culturally mutated. While they love coffee and have a few old paintings they don't sit around referring to Old Earth culture, which I find a relief. It is a total surveillance police state that no one seems to find odd or disturbing, really.

They don't have any ... future-ahistorical notion of rights or freedom. There are CITs, citizens, who have some sort of rights. Not a lot, though. I guess they get some kind of trial. In theory. Maybe. Then there are azi, who are clones and who get "tape" programming from infancy onward. Cits can be clones too, but don't get tape till later in life. That means that Cits can cope with change and complex situations better (or, without lots of scary therapy from a Supervisor with tape.) Azi can become citizens even though they aren't "born-men". They aren't slaves, but they have Contracts and can be reprogrammed, wiped, or killed without warning or explanation. There are alpha azis (smart and somewhat less taped), beta, etc. with their career level and decreasing intellectual ability and complexity. A theta is actually less complicated to program with tape, because they're dumber and only need to clean the toilets or nurse babies. Yeah. Ugh! What can I say. I am from Old Earth, after all.

Cut for spoilers. I would not worry too much about the spoilers though because you will just forget them during the byzantine thousands of pages of these books. Also, trigger warning for rape.
