The cat cure
Sep. 22nd, 2012 10:49 amUgh! I'm so sick! Rivers of snot! I spent a fitful night trying to doze sitting up since lying down made my sinuses and ears hurt like hell. Got up every half hour or so, drinking tea, eating ice cream & chicken soup in between re-reading Ken McLeod novels, taking baths, and halfway-passing out again. I finally took codeine around 5am and slept a couple of hours for real but that meant I woke up with one ear in sharp pain. I'm trying to drain that now by holding my head in different positions.
D. stayed up all night obsessively playing FTL with headphones on. He has a writing deadline. I hope he doesn't get this horrible cold.
Dreamed I was sick and feverish, lying on the floor in someone else's house, unable to talk more than a croak. People kept stepping on me. There were little kids running all over. I could only gasp for breath, and I kept sobbing in misery. When I'd try to stand up to get to the toilet, half the time I'd just fall over. A very bad dream but at least it made waking up an improvement.
Fever is 99.5-100ish, not too terrible but I can't take ibuprofen or NSAIDs to bring it down, and I ache all over. Thank god for this fluffy comforter and my giant heating pad and the lovely bathtub.
It is all unfair and wrong. I have asked Rook to keep Moomin for the weekend though at first yesterday I was ambitious to have him (and his friend) over despite being sick. The ear thing puts it over the top for me into the realm of dizzy/stunned with pain. So, no cheering children shall arrive to play minecraft.
I've gone through all the library books except one which I'm int he middle of but didn't want in the middle of the night - it is very good - Walking the Clouds: Indigenous Science Fiction. It's really superb! I highly recommend it!
