While I'm not sure that is what it should or will ultimately be called, it's floating around, and we can move the name fairly easily.

Tempest was talking about wiki stuff and documenting this extended discussion,

http://tempest.fluidartist.com/2009/02/05/some-thoughts-on-wikiwork/#comment-14696

So I made a page here on the feministsf wiki, as a stub,

http://wiki.feministsf.net/index.php?title=RaceFail_09

Please help fill it out if you have a little time.

I think when the Carl Brandon Society wiki gets created and filled out a bit, it will be easy to move/copy/redirect the feministsf page to there, if that's what people want to do.

I hope that's helpful. I would actually love to see the participants in the discussions to wikify their names, because to me they are well known players/figures, cultural and literary critics in general in sf/f fandom. I'm hoping the key posts will emerge from this, too, and will be more easily referenced & remembered, and that this group history-building can be useful for people who 3 months from now want to know what the deal was and who dig in and start reading.

I was interested in the feminist sf wiki way back when, and think I signed up, but have never found time to do anything over there--will try to schedule some time to work over there now!

Do add yourself and the fabulous book, while you're there!

We could put in rydra_wong's enormous link list - ask first

Go for it! *g*

All the individual posts are tagged, and all the links are also archived in a single post here.

For context, The Great Race Discussion Linkspam has a collection of links from many previous imbroglios (imbroglia?), mostly focused on media fandom but with a few pro sf/f imbroglios too (like the Helix one.)

*goes to add this post to the next linkspam, thus creating an infinite loop*

When people on the Fem-SF list who were interested in working on the SF/F wiki were asked to send volunteer e-mails to, um, I no longer recall who -- no one took up my offer, so, well, busy anyway. :)

Love, C.

If you have an unbusy moment and feel like making an edit or two, here's the URL,

http://wiki.feministsf.net/

and you'd make an account from the links in the upper right hand corner, then you can edit any page.

I seem to be in the pseudonym section instead of the real name section...is it cool for me to edit the page? (My real name is Mary Dell) Or does someone who's a regular on that wiki want to? I don't want to stick my thumb into someone else's pie without asking.

Please edit the wiki however you like!

I might go back and integrate all the names; I don't see any point into separating them into two categories.

"monopoly money!"

KIDDING! Separating them might actually kind of reinforce that BS.

Okay, that annoyed me too. If it bugs other people, I'm taking it out.

Since pseudonymity became a point of discussion, to put it mildly, grouping the pseudonyms could appear to reinforce the notion that there are two levels of "players."

I would like to see L--- J---- put in his own group, though, since he's alphabetically next to me right now, which makes me bizarrely anxious. (He trolled my blog too, specifically trashing my son)

Huh. Well, I don't want to make you anxious, but I also don't want to reinforce this "levels of players" thing. If we create a "trolls" category, we could spend the rest of our lives moving people in and out of it like three-card monte. Can I ask you to take a few days, and if it still freaks you out after that, change the wiki?

LOL, you're totally right. I didn't exactly mean "hey, put him in his own group," more like "I wish he could be put in his own group," which of course he can't really, unless someone cleverer than me can think of a way to isolate him without creating an argument. Like, "Regular people" and "Baby-insulters."

My anxiety is my problem, no worries. (But, because I am weird, I am glad I'm no longer right next to him alphabetically)

I wish I could get behind the Wiki, but I see it's already been used to re-fight battles from the Fail and I just don't have the energy. Not your fault, just the nature of a wiki, you know?
