As a talking squid from outer space, I think it's more nuanced than what she says.

Wow. In any case, I often wonder if the entire discipine of evo psych has any real existence as anything other than a method for bigots to attempt to justify cultural stereotypes about gender, sexual preference, and occasionally race with exceedingly dubious science.

OHMARGARETATWOODNO.
I got to the sentence about "based in evolutionary science," read it, and wept. As someone who went for a Psych minor and who studied Evolution in college her theory is...well, it's pretty standard "pop evolution" claptrap.

There needs to be an OH NO MARGARET ATWOOD icon, I think. Because that was my exact reaction.

I don't see no stinkin' socks. But I bet you could see mushrooms with the stuff she's smoking.

You forgot to mention the bit where she says "You could tell The Handmaid's Tale from a male point of view. People have mistakenly felt that the women are oppressed..."

WHUT.

Whoa.

Um, at least we can tell she's telling the truth about never being "informed by feminism" in her life?

That basically ruined THT for me, which sucks, as that was really one of my Feminist Awakening books in high school. Damn it.

Not that I liked Oryx and Crake anyway, so I wasn't going to read the new one.
