A day of alternating bed & Arranging Things. I found the only tube of voltaren gel left in the bay area and got a taskrabbit person to pick it up. The same errand runner got me key copies. Iced my ankles every couple of hours. Got locksmith to come re-key the side garage door and he helped me fix the front garage door too. That meant I was free and could leave the house! Scootered to the old place, gossiped with our upstairs neighbor about freelance writing and the state of publishing, Internet things, and the neighborhood. I got some food and coffee for the day. I felt barely capable of human interaction. But faked it.

The dryer in the garage doesn't seem to heat so I have run this load of laundry in there for THREE HOURS y'all.

In the morning I used the brand new oven to broil my toast. Before the bread even got warm, both smoke alarms in the house went off. They're both too high for me to reach so the cat and i had to just wait for it to stop. She can't put her paws in her ears, sadly.

The super fancy looking new fridge has a water dispenser and ice thing in it, which i've never had in anywhere i've lived and which I scorn in my usual annoying way, but i went to use it and it didn't work either. there must be something in there not turned on or hooked up.

I don't want to stand up figuring any of that stuff out so I'm ignoring it!

A guy is going to come tonight or (while i'm gone) tomorrow to see about fixing the bath hot water faucet which does not give hot water. I seriously thought about bringing the garden hose from the old place here to half assedly connect the sink hot water to the bathtub so i could wash. What I might do is boil a couple of pots of water and mix it into the tepid tub water. a shallow hot bath would be better than a cold shower.

i am looking forward to wheeling around inside the house but need a bike tire pump and something to fix some bolts/nuts on the old chair before i can use it. i am too exhausted to walk around. bad for ankle recovery, and hurting my knees.

yesterday i felt happy that i went to bed without taking any painkillers, but then i woke up about 10 times in the night and feel horrible today. So, vicodin tonight. My knees are very painful. I hope I can swim a lot in the hotel in Austin. I should be blogging about my talk....which will be great but which is at 9 in the morning. Fun even if 3 people come. it will be on the history of internet identity, and me and scott are going to go into pseudonymity and anonymity & go all over the map. i am focusing on hoaxes because everyone seems entertained and stimulated by those stories!
