What I'd like to know
Aug. 16th, 2012 10:27 amI have a thought from all the conversation about Assange and so on. Just for the record I've said it before and will say it again, I like Wikileaks and also don't think Assange should be extradited to the U.S. or under threat by the U.S. and I think he is under that threat.
But, about rape...
Cut for talking about rape
As I read and comment on this thread on hacker news I'm thinking of a project idea. So many of the commenters don't have anything like my concept of what rape is. I'd like to invite them (and others) to sign their authenticated wallet names to statements that describe what they do and don't think is rape. So, if they don't believe that being with a women in bed, then holding the woman down and sticking their dick into them while she struggles to get away, if they don't think that is rape, I'd like them to put their real name where their beliefs are so that everyone in their lives can know exactly what they believe.
It should be a series of statements that describe different scenarios and then a space for comments/signatures. I think simply "Yes, I think this is rape" and "No, I don't think this is rape". I don't like the idea of a middle ground, a maybe, or a long rambling story response. Just yes or no.
That's all. I think it would be a powerful dare and a powerful statement. If any of them take it, then it exposes them to people around them in their daily lives who might be able to argue the points better with them.
