All my brain is taken up by the new job. I am learning a lot super fast. You can see my modest q1 goals if you like! I need to start posting more rapidly about work things before the freshness of it wears off. But I know that half of my first impressions are wrong or naive. It is a very complicated and chaotic and interesting system.

Wed. i got a ride with my boss to the MV office. It was a long difficult day but interesting and things improved for me once i found a quiet corner with beanbags and got in some sideways positions for a while so my low back or whatever was relieved. I feel so fidgety and thrashy and itchy and painful. And I also felt a bit conspicuous and new on my shiny red scooter. (I went to interviews bloody-mindedly in the manual chair so as to look more healthy and athletic or something, which, i know is fucked up of me but, it happened. Now I am scootering and then flailing about on bean bags in the corner. Okay whatever!!) People were super nice and I had a really good conversation with a ponytailed security dude who wears one of those terry pratchett hats. i also saw a rather exciting metal lined room with metal door like a safe or a lock in refrigerator of doom, full of shoe-racks with bits of phone and test boards on them. neato! But I had to stay pretty late to get the ride back. by the time I realized I wished I was home, I was too tired to have really coped with the train or even scootering all the way to the train and then dismantling the scooter in a cab on the last leg of the trip. So I stayed for the ride. But that was like 13 hour day. hahahhahahahaha! no.

Thurs. I went to the SF office, taking a cab on the way there. I took a celebrex, which I shouldn't do. I might see if I can get away with taking a celebrex once a week for office days. I got a racist russian taxi driver I have had before. He is entertaining for a while with his analysis of the cab industry but then he always ends up saying racist shit. I told him maybe people would give him 5 stars more often if he just kept it to himself.... and then talked how people don't pick me up b/c of their assumptions. Seriously t his guy went on and on about his stories which boiled down to, some black guy gave him 1 star rating when it was not his fault he couldn't turn left on market. cry me a fucking river! But I was glad i cabbed it since it saved me a lot of energy. Met with my boss, ate all the free lunch and had a lot of free coconut waters and used the espresso machine, which i am very bad at. How do you get the espresso to be level in the thing before you tamp it down??? I enjoyed my day there. i love the view from the 7th floor and sometimes I just like to be in an office.

Moomin is here now tonight and he cannot stop coughing. His chest hurts and he can't take a deep breath really or get out more than a sentence. We'll see how he is in the morning. At least I know what to do for such things. I put him in the shower and he has some cold meds and cough suppressants in him. If he can't sleep i will give him a little codeine, i am out of the cough syrup but have tiny pills I can break in half. In a pinch I can take him to urgent care but I think he will be fine if he stays in and rests and drinks a lot. Poor thing. He is reading diary of anne frank (for school) and ender's game (not for school) ... What a weird combo.

A. is reading The Hobbit because al the boys in school who are in "andrew's gang" are into it from the movie and are talking about it as well as legos and star wars. only she and andrew are reading the book, though. We also started reading her Song of the Forest which I picked up in NZ and thought she would specially enjoy. She read us a bunch of chapter 2. I dunno though. the scenes where the kid is kept in the little-ease style of cage for a month is pretty horrible. I forgot about that till we were actually into chapter 2. My sneaky campaign is succeeding to expose her to better writing styles and longer words and more complex sentences than she will get from school books or those books about Percy what's his name. I would like to read them both some good poetry (and some kinda bad old poetry.... like i bet they would both dig on robert southey.)

Worrying on Moomin a bit but, well, like i said, i know how to cope with bronchitis. I am somewhat startled that he went to school all week sick as a dog. This makes zero sense and was unnecessary.

cannot remember if either of us had flu shots this year. I remember doing it for us both the year before, but not this last fall.

Do you get flu shots at the same place each year? They might know.

Glad to hear about your job. I have been snowed under with four classes and my student job here, but I'm still actively following your progress and rooting for you!
