Still here and reading
Jan. 22nd, 2013 04:41 pmI am still here and very happily reading Simoqin which is completely great and I rec it for anyone who likes fantasy!
I also really liked Kristin Cashore's Bitterblue (the 2 earlier ones in the trilogy were good, but Bitterblue knocked my socks off)
What else. I am re-reading Home Life in Colonial Days. It's the best. I want a paper copy of that! the ebook isn't enough and doesn't have the illustrations.
We went to Chicago for aaron's funeral. A 2 day trip. I had a day of blah afterwards and then I was fine physically.
The kids are great. We had one very active day this weekend going to parks and playing board games with my sister and family and then the other 2 days we basically sat around in our pajamas. They now play minecraft and forget to eat all day. i just place the food in front of them and let it go. video game playing parents... what can i say. I read a lot and cleaned.
First shot of Enbrel was last Friday and it felt awesome.
Work is very absorbing. I'm enjoying it!!! And starting to post a little bit. Soon there will be real thought and synthesis posted rather than mere notes on Things to Tweak. Gearing up slowly.
I might be getting a slight cold. I worry about thsi given the rest of my week looks like this, and normally I don't do more in a day than scooter myself to the grocery store 6 blocks away and back. If I do this, there will be a lot of cabs.
Wed. is hacker hive meetup at sudo room in Oakland. my sister is gonna give me a ride back.
Thursday I will be at work at the SF office, then at Aaron's memorial at the Internet Archive.
I will be at She's Geeky this Friday (not sure if I can manage Saturday too) . I worked today on a good talk on contributing to open source things, bugmasterishly! And how you can join my awesome swarm of bug tamers!
Actually, I could really use a ride to there from SF!!! And back! But if that doesn't happen I'll figure it out.
If I had a green automobile I'd.... Oh, whatever. No.
I have a scooter and an Uber non-cab.
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Can I possibly do all this????
Feb. 12 I go to Vienna for the OSCE and Feb. 15 will be in London for a week.
I will be somewhat lonely in London but my hotel is very very near the Big Pretend Long Ago Animal's offices, and a few blocks away from my (so far) favorite place to visit in London which is the national portrait gallery and its top floor cafe with view of the city skyline.
